About
This concert will let the music speak for itself. It will feature the first performance in over 80 years of a chamber work by Dr Ruby Davy, the first female Elder Conservatorium student to major in composition and Australia’s first female Doctor of Music.
Be captivated as the Seraphim Trio and Cheryl Pickering perform works by arguably the two best known female composers of the early nineteenth century, Clara Schumann and Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn. Clara’s songs are jewels of precision and sophistication, and Fanny’s Piano Trio is bold and exuberant, but equally intimate and lyrical, and explores the form in a way unique for the time.
Domestic Voices is one of four events highlighting female composers being held Sat 19 June at Elder Hall. View the full program of events.
